Membership

The Maison does not admit on request, and it courts no one. A member is not a client who has paid, but a name the Maison has chosen to keep at its side. That choice belongs to the house alone, and it is unhurried.

There is, nonetheless, a manner in which a name may come before the Placement Committee. One may submit a candidacy — one's name, one's hand, and the reason the Maison should receive it — and the Committee will weigh it in its own time. To submit a candidacy is not to be admitted; it is only to be considered.

We do not ask whether a member may acquire their place. We ask whether the Maison may stand at their side. That question is not put at a counter, and it is not answered by return; it is weighed, quietly, by those who keep the house.
